Hans Groeneveld is a contemporary realist painter who lives and works in Haarlem, The Netherlands. As a teenager he was always interested in drawing but his creative energy took shape at a much later age resulting in painting using traditional mediums of watercolor and oil. He sees his artistic talent as a gift which he passionately wants to share and teach.
In previous years he attended workshops in oil as well as watercolor and is primarily self taught. His work has been recognized entering international art competitions and published at a national level.
Hans’ landscape painting is inspired by outdoor ventures on his motorcycle as well as daily walks in the city. Often he sketches on location to record moments of inspiration or works ‘en plein air’ to capture light, shape, and color. He loves both mediums, watercolor and oil paint. The spontaneity of watercolors contrasting the deliberate brushstroke in oil provides a broad range of tools to express himself and inspires him to always improve his craft.
His mission is to share his gift and inspire others to find their own artistic journey. He believes that realistic and figurative art builds bridges among people of different backgrounds in today’s global society.
Hans is represented by Gallery Dutch Accent in Amsterdam and works from his home studio in Haarlem, The Netherlands.
